Recipe Components

For the Cheesecake Layer:

  • 450g or 16 oz cream cheese Philadelphia type, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sour cream

For the Strawberry Cake Layers:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup fresh or frozen strawberry purée
  • Pink food coloring

Ingredients for the Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream

Instructions

Make the Cheesecake Layer

  1. Preheat the oven to 163 °C (325 °F). Line a 9-inch (23 cm) spring form pan with parchment paper and lightly grease.
  2. Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth, then add eggs, one at a time, mixing well.
  3. Stir in vanilla and sour cream, then pour the batter into the pan.
  4. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the center is set. Let cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Prepare the Strawberry Cake Layers

  1. Preheat the oven to 175 °C (350 °F). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
