How to Make Perfectly Smoked Jalapeno Poppers

Smoked Jalapeno Poppers with Lamb recipe that’s packed with flavor

Components :

  • 12 large jalapenos, halved and deseeded
  • ½ lb (225g) ground lamb
  • 4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup crumbled feta cheese optional, for extra richness
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper optional, for extra heat
  • 12 slice of lamb
  • Toothpicks for securing lamb

Instructions :

1. Prepare the Smoker

Preheat your smoker to 250°F (120°C). Use hickory or applewood chips for a nice smoky flavor.

2. Cook the Lamb Filling
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground lamb with garlic, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
  • Once browned, drain excess fat and let it cool slightl

  • In a bowl, mix cream cheese, shredded cheddar, and feta if using.
  • Fold in the cooled lamb mixture until well combined.
4. Stuff the Jalapenos
  • Spoon the lamb and cheese mixture into each jalapeno half.
  • Wrap each stuffed jalapeño with a slice of lamb and secure with a toothpick.
5. Smoke the Poppers
  • Place the poppers on the smoker rack and smoke for 90 minutes or until the lamb is crispy.
  • For extra crispiness, increase the heat to 350°F (175°C) for the last 10 minutes.

Let cool slightly, then serve warm with ranch or tzatziki sauce for dipping.
