Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cake In your home

Components

For the Cake :

  • 1.5 quarts vanilla ice cream softened slightly
  • 1.5 quarts chocolate ice cream softened slightly

For the Crunch Layer :

  • 1 package chocolate sandwich cookies (e.g., Oreos)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)

For the Fudge Layer :

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup (optional, for extra shine)

For the Topping :

  • Whipped topping (e.g., Cool Whip) or whipped cream (stabilized if making fresh)
  • Chocolate syrup or sprinkles (optional, for decoration)
Instructions
  1. Prepare the Crunch Layer :
  • Crush the chocolate sandwich cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a sealed bag and smashing with a rolling pin.
  • Mix the crumbs with melted butter until combined. Set aside.
  1. Make the Fudge Layer :
  • In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
  • Remove from heat and pour over the chocolate chips. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy. If using corn syrup, stir it in now. Let the fudge cool slightly.
  1. Assemble the Cake :
  • Line a 9-inch springform pan or deep cake pan with plastic wrap or parchment paper for easy removal.
  • Spread the softened chocolate ice cream evenly in the bottom of the pan. Freeze for 30 minutes.
  • Pour the cooled fudge over the chocolate layer and sprinkle the cookie crumbs evenly on top. Gently press the crumbs into the fudge. Freeze for another 30 minutes.
  • Spread the softened vanilla ice cream over the cookie layer, smoothing the top. Freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight to set completely.
  1. Decorate the Cake :
  • Remove the cake from the pan and place it on a serving plate. Spread the whipped topping evenly over the cake, covering the sides and top.
  • Decorate with chocolate syrup, sprinkles, or any other toppings of your choice.
  1. Serve :
  • Freeze the cake until ready to serve. When serving, let the cake sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes to soften slightly for easier slicing.
